BookLocker is now offering color-interior POD publishing to authors located in the United States. We previously hesitated to offer this service because it is so incredibly expensive. However, after seeing the ridiculous prices our competitors were charging authors who require this service, we changed our minds. We couldn’t continue to tell authors no, knowing they would be forced to pay a lot more elsewhere if they really needed color-interior printing. Please know that we are making a low profit on these books, despite the fact that they are so expensive. (Please Note: This service is only currently available to authors located in the U.S.)

A. Setup Fees

For the absolute best quality, these books must be set-up in InDesign and converted to pdf. Our designer formats color interior books in InDesign. You will only need to send your book text and interior graphics and our designer will put the pieces together…with your guidance, of course. You will work directly with our designer to ensure the book is formatted to your liking.

B. List Prices

Up to 24 pages: $11.95
25-48 pages: 14.95
49-100 pages 22.95
101-148 pages 30.95
149-200 pages 37.95 (Ouch!!!)

Estimate an additional 20 cents per page if your book exceeds 200 pages.

We can offer color-interior books up to 480 pages, but the prices are ridiculously high, so, again, you should try to keep your book as short as possible.

C. Author Discounts

Author prices are as follows

$2.00 per book
plus $0.125 per page
plus $2.00 handling fee per order (This is something our printer charges.)

Discount of 10% for orders of 100+ copies.

D. Book Sizes

Color interior books sizes are 8.5 x 8.5 (a typical children’s book) and 8.5 x 11. We’re sorry but those are the only sizes currently offered by our printer. All are paperback.

E. Other

Color Interior books to 48 pages are saddle-stitched (stapled).
Color interior books 49-480 pages are perfectly bound (glued).
Color interior books, of course, have glossy, color covers.

Cost Comparison

These prices are based on a 48-page, color-interior paperback book. Royalties are based on public sales through the publisher’s website.

Setup fees based on least expensive package offered by each publisher on similar offers targeting U.S. authors. Fees include setup, original cover design, print proof, ebook creation, up to 25 interior photos/graphics, an ISBN, barcode, a listing on the publisher’s website and distribution by Ingram, all within 6 weeks.
